A very interesting relic of the past was on view at the Taranaki Agricultural Society’s meeting. Ibis consisted of a silver medal made into the form of a brooch, bearing on the front in relief a cow and a horse, as well as a plough On the back it bears the inscription: “Awarded to W. K. Hulke, Ayrshire cow Princess, 1802, Taranaki Agricultural Society.” The medal, which was dug up on a farm at Bell Block that was recently purchased by Mr Giddy and was formerly owned by Mr Hulke. It is interesting to note that tho cow mentioned was afterwards purchased by the late Mr E. Olson, of Egmont Village, and some of her descendants are still in the herd of Olson Bros.
