FOUND DROWNED
ELDERLY MAN’S @AB END. MISSING EO:R THREE WEEKS. The body of an elderly man, identified as that of William Soott Brieriey, Was recovered from the harbour yesterday morning. ' At about 11.0 a.in. a yachtsman, named Jehu Pe-v rival, reported to the water police that he had seen the body Of a man floating in tho harbour about 100 yards out from the Pipitea Wharf. Constable IsbistCr proceeded to tlie ? celie, dnd, with the assistance 0f„ Mf ’ercival, brought the body ashore, it Was found to he m a fairly decomposed state, which, indicated that it ha'l horn in the water for some time
Marked handkerchiefs found on the clothing proved that the ibbdy was that of William SoOtt Brieriey. The clcocased had been a resident of Wellington for some years, and was reported to the polite on June 16th last as missing. He was 63 years of ageand it is understood that he originally Came from Dunedin, Where his Wife and family reside. A Wtttdh found ill one of the pockets of deceased’s clothing had stopped at 6.57. An inquest Will he held to-day. ,
