MORTISE AND SANDPAPERING REVOLUTIONISING JOINERY AND . CABINETMAKING. One of the features of the Winter Show is the very fine exhibit of woodworking machinery by the well-known manniaeturers, j. Sagar and Co., Ltd., Halifax, Yorks, for whom the New Zealand agents are Messrs Moss and Co Odhn e Buildings, Cable street, Wellington. The name of this firm is a household word in the ioinery anii-cabinetmaking world, and there is hardly a factory of consequence in New Zealand which has not some of their machines installed, including Technical Schools, Education Boards. Government Departments, etc." Sager’s have always had the reputation of being up-to-date, and since the war machinery has been improved out of. all knowledge. The machines exhibited Xte* SpletTdid Jnodels of English engineering. One is the latest semi-automatic chain and chisel mortising machine, the first imported into the. Dominion, and a distinct improvement on anything, yet. produced, for this class of work. Heavier than its predecessor, it has an antomatie cut-off to both chain and chisel by means of a cone friction clutch in the base of the machine. Extremely smooth in action, whod diSbfefiifectSl fiohb "of* the working parts are in'motion, considerably, saving wear and tear. By this mechanism the chain cutter stops and starts almost- instantaneously. The chain cutter sharpen-ing-machine is fixed-in a convenient place on the machine, and suitable driving arrangements are provided. Another exhibit is the belt sandpapering machine, with travelling table, of which 20” have been sold since introduced into New Zea-land.---It -is quite revptutiomsißg- the method of sandpapering woodwork, the finished product being equal to tho best handwork, and as a labour-saving device is one of the most valuable machines yet introduced into the trade. Specimens of finished work are on view at the 6tand, with other machinery exhibits, and the representative of Messrs Moss and Co. will be pleased to explain any matters in connection therewith. The exhiUts reflect the highest credit on the makers.—* Published by arrangement. •
