TRENCH 4000 YEARS OLD
The discovery of a trench which dates back at least to 2000 or 3000 11.0. is described by Professor R. A. S' Mucahster in his latest article on the excavations at Jerusalem.
r ihis trench, the professor savs. carries the history of the ancient 'City of IJaiid back at least 500 years behind the furthest point hitherto attained. It is sunk in the rock, Bft deep and lift in breadtii.
"'I he broken steps are there,” Ppo. fesior Mncaiister adds, "cleared for the time being of soil that lias cumbered them from before the time of Abraham, and probably a record of a previously unknown siege of Jerusalem.”
