GOVERNMENT FORMATION
NATIONA,LISTS REALISE MUST SEEK CO-OPERATION. ONLY ALTERNATIVE TO CONFUSION. Bv Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright Published in "The Times/' LONDON, Hay 9. The Berlin correspondent of “The Times” states that the German Nationalists aro tardily realising that even they cannot form a Government without the co-operation of other parties. It is now clear that they are aiming at a coalition with the Centre and People’s Parties, trusting that they may enjoy thie benevolent neutrality of the Democrats on the one hand ana the Freedom Party on the other. It is a precarious basis on which to build, even if the Nationalists should come round to the view that the unreserved acceptance of the experts’ report is tho only alternative to confusion. The Centre Party will join in on no other terms, and tho benevolent neutrality of tho Democrats would not be otherwise obtainable. What the Freedom Party will do remains obscure, but a popular rumour already credits it with preparations for a “putsch.”
