Tex Rickard, the boxing promoter, testified before the Senate Committee that he knew perfectly well that it was against the law to exhibit fight pictures outside New Jersey, and he called in Muma and Orr, because they assured him that they could get Daugherty (the Attorney-General) to pass legislation permitting the display of the film in every State. “But they did not exactly deliver the gflods,” complained Rickard, who smarts under a 1000-dollsr fine, personally charged against him on one occasion. “I was bunked on the whole deal,” he said, “for the whole profits ony reached 10,000 dollars.”
