HARBOUR BOARD BUILDINGS

ERECTION OF NEW OFFICES URGED. Notice has been given by Mr D 7 McGowan to move the following motion at next meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board: “That the engineer be instructed to prepare alternative proposals for (a) reconstructing the present head office and bond building ih order to provide adequate office accommodation, and a more suitable board room, (b) Removing the present office and bond building, and rebuilding same to meet the requirements of present and future necessities.” Mr Maurice Cohen will also move at the same meeting: “(1) That in view of the storage space now provided, and in course of erection, being more than sufficient for trade requirements during the winter months, and in order to utilise it to the best advantage to the board, the general manager asked to report: (a) The possible extent if apace available during those months; (d) the rate at which such space might Be made available to merchants and others requiring same. (2) That a special schedule be prepared for the use of any of the board's sheds that may be available for exhibitions and for other purposes, and that this apply to all oases where the hoard lets or hires such sheds on application, but that the board in committee may, in special cases, rebate either the whole or any portion of such schedule charges, as in their opinion the merits of any such case warrants.”
