I SIMPLE TV AT OF LOCATING TUBE PUNCTURES. Here is a suggestion of a method to be used in repairing tubes* which is advocated by a correspondent in the "Goodyear News.'* "As a rule the average tyro man yanks off the rim, pulls out the tube, takes it to the tank, finds the puncture, and then looks all through the casing for the nail that did tho damage. Maybe it's only a shoe nail, or a phonograph needle tUat cannot be seen either from the inside or the outside, so the repaired tube goes back into the tyre and another puncture results—and with it a dissatisfied customer. "My method is to mark the tyre with a piece of chalk, where the valve stem is located, before removing the Jtube from the tyre. I also make a similar mark on the tube to show which side was uppermost. Then when the puncture is located in the tube, lav it on the tyre taame side up as it was in the tyre, and mark an X on the casing where the nail should be located. "With this absolute check, I never fail Ho locate the object, no matter how small it is. When I first started to use the method my chalk was never where I wanted it —either on the floor or crushed in my pocket. "But now I have a piece suspended from the ceiling by a series of rubber bands strung together. This is just above my head over the tyre changing table, as are the air gauge and air They are all just out of the way, and save miles and miles of walking and lots of cussing."—Advt.
