He lost Ins way, when suddenly he saw a carriage drawn by ai pair of horses, followed hy a crowd, and preceded by two men carrying long poles, from which fluttered white cloths Private Murch strolled towards them. When they saw him they uttered loud cries, clasped hands, cure crowded round turn. One of them, in a white garment, shouted: “Allaht, Akhbar 1” and tried to kiss him. Private Murch deeply resented this familiarity.
