HANGMAN RESIGNS
TOO TENDER-HEARTED. COULD NOT KILL FOWLS. (Sydney “Sun” Cable.l LONDON, March 19. John Ellis, the hangman, has resigned. He executed over two hundred people, including the notorious Orippen and Sir Roger Casement, tho Kish rsbel. Ellis was formerly a barber, and is now a traveller for blankets. He is a sensitive and nervous man, who, when he kept fowls, had to get a friend to wring their necks.
