HELD FOR MURDER
GREER TO STAND TRIAL. THE HOLLYWOOD SCANDAL. Australian anti N.Z. Cable Association. (Received March 20, 7.20 p.m.) NEW YORK, March 19. According to a Los Angeles message, Horace Greer, the former chauffeur to Mabel Normand, lias been held to answer a charge of attempted murder after the preliminary hearing of the oharges in connection with the shooting of Cortland Dines. Greer, Mabel Normand’s chauffeur,, was said to be jealous of Cortland Dines, American magnate, whom he suspected of over-familiarity with the film actress. Forcing an entry to Dines’s rooms, lie was alleged to have shot the man, following a quarrel in which he accused Dines of having given Mabel Normand too much to drink. Dines died in hospital.
