“ CAREFUL DOES IT ”
WARNING NOTICES. DEPARTMENT’S ACTION. The Department of Labour has now had printed four “Be Careful 1” forms, to be posted up in workshops and factories, calling attention in sufficiently prominent lettering to the need of sensible and careful behaviour. No. 1 points out, under its heading of “Factory,” that many accidents are caused by fooling, horse-play, and distracting the attention of others. No. 2 calls upon employees to report unsafe places to the foreman, or manX- that a trap shall not he left tor rs. No. 3 deals with smoking in factories where it is prohibited, and likewise with the danger of carrying looee matches; and the fourth baa to do with first-aid and ambulance outfits. There can. be no question of the notices not catching the eye when they ore posted up, for the Government Printer has issued them in green and red, and has set out the advice, moreover, in heavy block lettering.
