MR A. E. NEILSON

NEW SECRETARY OF W.R.U. Mr J. Preneville (chairman of the management committee of the Wellington Rugby Union) informed a “Times” reporter last night that Mr A. E. Neilson, of Karori, has been appointed secretary to the Wellington Rugby Union. Mr Neilson, who has rspresejitoS the Rugby Referees’ Association on the management committee of the Rugby Union for two years, has been connected with Rugby football from his youth, and has been refereeing the game for no less than 17 years. Even in his schooldays he was a keen “Rugbyite.” He has refereed in many representative matches, interprovipcflal and otherwise, including the second' and third Springbok test matches. He served right through the South African War, and for three years in the Great AVar, leaving New Zealand with the Rifle Brigade.
