It is understood that the Union Com-T>-,nv has disposed of the Karu, the smallest steamer m its fleet, to a ssvrtne.y buyer, and that the vessel will short!v be towed to Sydney The 1 nru is a steel auxiliary screw three-masted steamer of 267 tons, schooner rigged. She was built in Norway in 1901, and 'was orginally named tho Torgauten, and later the Holmdale. For the past three years she has been laid up at Port Chalmers, hut previous to that she was chartered by the Canterbury Shipping Company for some years, and employed on the Dunedin-Wanganui run.
