REMEDYING GRIEVANCES
TRADES UNION PROPOSAL. GUARANTEE ASKEID FOR. (Sydney “Sun” Cable.) LONDON, January 27. The Trades Union Council has forwarded to Mr Thomas Shaw, Minister for Labour, a proposal that the man ager 3 should guarantee a relaxation of the hardships the men suffer under and reductions conditional upon Bromley’s Union agreeing to a fresh ballot. It is expected that the suggestion will afford the Government an opportunity of making peace. Unemployment due to the strike is spreading, 150,000 being idle in South Wales alone. It is estimated that tlici strike is costing the country £1,000,000 daily.
