The Hutt Valley Caledonian Society is an enthusiastic body, and has hold a series of social evenings recently which, largely due to the efforts of its able secretary (Mr John Kyle), have been very successful. These took place in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Petono, where members and their friends spent many enjoyable evenings. On the 19tli inst., tho society’s annual picnic was held at Maidstone Park, Upper Hutt, under ideal weather conditions, which was liberally patronised by members. All forms of sports were put through without a hitch, and the outing was voted a groat success. The anniversary of Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns, was celebrated in the orthodox style.
