An extensive grass fire broke out os» the Blenheim frontage of the Marlborough hills and spread over many miles of sheep country, embracing several runs, and destroyed a big acreage of sheep food. A few sheep were burned, one stack of bay, and some plantations were destroyed. Hundreds of fire fighters were engaged from all quarters. The fire was suppressed in the evening.
