PETONE BOROUGH
MEETING OF COUNCIL. A meeting of the -Petone Borough Council was held last night, the following members being present: Mr J W. McEwun (Mayor), Councillors C-. P. Brocklebank, A. G. Steffeneon, V. Jacobson, A. J. Pointon, W. Hay, G. Cook, IV. P. Soles, and H. Gay. CORRESPONDENCE. The secretary, Taita Cemetery Board, wrote enclosing copy of a letter from the Lower Hutt Borough Council approving of the area proposed to be purchased for extending the cemetery, and recommending that if the negotiations fox purchase were not successful tlie land be taken under the Public Works Act. The board’s letter also aaked that a sum of £IOO be placed upon the estimates to enable the board to carry on. It wa sdecided to agree to both requests, Mrs E. Shepherd, Hidler’® crescent, Petone, wrote claiming £8 compensation for a costume, etc., whioh was damaged whilst the workmen were tarring Jackson street footpath. After some discussion it was decided to obtain further information upon the matter.
