St. Thomas's Hospital, London, contains thirty mile® of pipes carrying hot water for heating, etc., into every ward. Half-a-crown luncheons have been introduced on all restaurant cans run by the Great Western Railway in England. Clay rods, about three inches in length, were formerly used for curling wigs, instead of the more modern ourj-papers.
