ANNUAL PICNIC. AN ENJOYABLE OUTING. The members of the City Corporai tion staff held their annual picnic under ideal conditions yesterday at Day’s Bay. There were present some 300 ; adults as well as a large number of j children, who thoroughly enjoyed the j cutting. The gathering took place on the beach anij at Williams Park. I Mr J. G. Mackenzie, head of the city reserves department, was chairman of the picnic committee, and received much support from an enthusiastic committee, of which Mr S. R. Youmans was secretary and Mr W. F. Alexander treasurer. The Mayor (Mr R. A. Wrjght, M.P.), owing to another engagement, was unable to attend, but Mr J. R. Palmer, town clerk, was present at the gathering. Others present were Councillor Thompson (chairman of the reserves committee), and Councillors Parton, Aston, John Burns, Chapman, Monteith, M.P., and Mrs MoVicax. A very enjoyable sports meeting took place, while many took the opportunity of the outing and the beautiful day to indulge in surf bathing.
