After being without a ferry service for over ten years, residents of Karaka Bay and Seatoun had the opportunity yesterday of taking the boat to town and back, instead of travelling by tramway. There were between 50 and 60 passengers inwards from Seatoun an dKaraka Bay to the city. The new service was inaugurated by the Eastbourne Borough Council’s steamer Cobar. Mr A. L. Smith, of the staff of the Lower Hutt station, who is on ins ithree weeks’ furlough, visiting Feilding, is being temporarily relieved by Mr Jardina.
