PHOTOS FOR EMPIRE EXHIBITION. A SPLEN DID COLLEIOTION. The fine selection —some 40 or 50 in number —of pnoramio views of Wellington City and the surrounding district, whic-h the Wellington Chamber of Commeroe is forwarding to the British Empire Exhibition, is now on view at Messrs McGregor, Wright and Oo.’s gallery, Lainbton quay. The selection comprises some particularly good pictures of Wellington Harbour and wharves, the pleasure craft anchorage, Oriental Bay esplanade, Government House, Parliament Buildings and grounds, Lamb-tan quay, Willis street, etc. The arrival of His Excellency the Governor-General for the opening of Parliament is also shown, and the great gathering in Parliament Grounds to welcome H.R.H. the Prince of Wales. The scenic beauties' of the Botanical Gardens and ofi Day’s Bay have not been forgotten; nor the various parks and recreation grounds of the capital city. There are a number of viows of typical suburban homes; a fine picture of the great Olympic motor show, Wellington; and views of the various bathing beaches. A close finish at the championship sports meeting at Athletic Park (at which the American team competed) is the subject of one of the sports pictures. Others show trout-fishing near Wellington; a deer-stalkei;’* paradise in the Wairarapa, within thirty miles of Wellington ; the Herertaunga golf links; the Basin Reset re on the day of the Wellington v. M.C.C. cricket match; Trontham Park on race day; and a section of a huge crowd at a Rugby football match at Athletio Park. Also deserving of mention is a fine picture of Wellington College, with the. Cadet Corps paraded in front of the main building. The photographs, which are all handsomely framed in three-inch rimu, are to be sent forward to the British Empire Exhibition early next month, together with 300 or 400 photographs illustrating the industries and the scenic beauties of New Zealand, and life in various parts of the Dominion, which Messrs McGregor, Wright and Co. have framed for the Now Zealand Government.
