GODFREY BEATS SPARGO. BRILLIANT DISPLAY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright (Received January 27, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, January 26. After a brilliant display, Sid. Godfrey defeated Spargo on points in twenty rounds for the lightweight championship of Australia. Godfrey was very aggressive and tricky, and pressed Spargo hard, trying for a knock-out. The latter fought back gamely, and had the better of the. in-fighting, but Godfrey was too good at long range, and won by a comfortable margin. Spargo was handicapped by an. injured knee, which* he received in a tram accident some time ago.

GOOD WIN FOR PARKER
PETTEFER BEATEN IN FIVE ROUNDS. Per Press Association. NAPIER, January 26. Eddie Parker (11.10), Hastings, light heavyweight champion of New Zealand, heat Jack Pettifer (12.6), heavyweight champion, H.M.S. Chatham, in the fifth round,, on Saturday night. Parker gradually broke down his opponent’s defence until he was able to send Pettifer fo the' hoards three times in the fifth round, when the towel was thrown in.
