SWIMMING CHAMPIONS
AT WANGANUI. CHANCES OF WELLINGTON PERFORMERS. The N.Z. swimming championships open at Wanganui to-day, and will be proceeding all through the week. Today’s events include—mile, 100yds ladies. Sflflyds intermediate boys, 50yds junior girls, 100yds junior boys, and (syds junior girls’ breast stroke. It is to-day in which Wellington has the greatest chance of gaining awards. Wellington should get at least second place in the mile. All being well Miss Gwitha Shand is practically a certainty for the ladies 100yds; the local boy, Watson, who is making his first appear, nnoe in classic swimming, should take the 200yds boys event, while Fitch up. pears to have the 100yds junior hoys well in hand. Miss Sinclair Breen should be good enough to bring the 75yds breast stroke championship for girls to Wellington.
