MURITAI COLLISION
• DAMAGE, £1585. A letter was received by the Eastbourne Borough Council last night from tho solicitor to the New Zealand Shipping Company that the total amount of damage and demurrage in connection with the collision between the s.s. Muritai and the s.s. Naringa would amount to £1585 14s 4§d, taking the rupee as worth 17Jd. There was also the cost of the repairs made in Wellington. The clerk said the borough’s surveyor estimated the damage at £BOO, and their surveyor £2700. The Muritai was insured against accidents for six-sevenths. The letter was received.
