He intends to spend a year in the Dominion, aad it is possible he may make New Zealand his permanent home. . The funeral took place at Karorf Cemetery on Wednesday of • the- lata Mr H. S. McDowell, a returned soldier (No. 24441). Those present included the Mayor of Wellington- (Mr R. A. Wright), Captain Rockstrow (Defence Department), Mrs Neil son (Women’s National Reserve), Air J. li. Palmer (Town Clerk), and representatives of the Returned Soldiers’ Association and Pensions Department. The Rev. W. Shirer officiated. The “Last Post” was sounded by liugler Chegwidden. Alajor F. W. The death occurred in Wellington of Mr George Noble, of Newtown, and a ■swell-known local bowler. Although the late Air Noble had been in indifferent health for some time, his death was quite unexpected. Born in Rangiora 53 years ago. the deceased gentleman resided in Wellington for over 30 years, and was in business as a tailor. In his younger days he was a prominent .athlete in Canterbury, and earned a great deal of success,. as a runner He was a member of the Newtown Bowling Club for - -many vearß, and in 1918-19 was president of that club. Alore recently he belonged to the Wellington Bowling Club, and was an esteemed member. The lata Mr Noble was a ton-in-law of Air George Prince, the veteran Newtown bowler, and he is survived by a widow and two sons; Mr'G. C. Noble, of Taitaape. and Mr A. Noble, of Wellington. He was a member of the Alnsomc craft as well as a Druid, and at the interment at Karori cemetery, where the Rev. J. F. Martin, af the Meth.dist Central Alission, conducted the funeral service, the Masonic rites were also carried out. Representatives of the Wellington, Newtown, and other bowling clubs were present at the fun oral.
