The Defence Department will bring out shortly a new issue of the Army List', which will contain some new and interesting features. The issue, which should appear in February, will contain an up-to-date summary of the war services of all officers on the active list, and it will also contain a gradation list of officers of the Permanent Forces in a style similar to that of the Army List of the British Army. Borne officers of the Reserve and Retired Lists may be disappointed to find their names omitted from the list, but the reason n isuch cases is that the officers concerned have not reported as they are required to do once every year, in January. The department finds it necessary to keep these lists under constant revision, and the names of officers who do not report are put on a suspense list for one year, and after that are struck off if no report haa been reoeived.
