ANNUAL PICNIC

HANNA AND KING, LTD. On Anniversary Day the members, staff and many friends of Hanna and King, Ltd., journeyed by char-a-banc to Stokes Valley, where a most enioyable picnic was held on Mr King’s property. The annual lady and gentleman’s relay race was well contested, there being thirteen pairs in the field. In a close finish Miss Whitcomb and Mr Syd. Terri 6 proved the winners, the former being the recipient of a handsome prize. During the afternoon a cricket match, Hanna and King v. Stokes Valley, was played, and resulted in a win for the Valiev team bv 174 runs to 149. For the winners the best efforts were—Batting, Price 59, Graham 45; bowling, Grabam took six for 21. The outstanding performances for Hanna and King were— Batting, Blatcher 47, Conroy 39; bowling, W. Conroy «ix for 24. Games, fun and music amidst glorious surroundings ensured a really happy time for all. while a brilliant sun made the bathing pool well patronised by both sexes. Afternoon tea was served in the shade of the bush, about fortv Valley residents participating, including Mr and Mrs S. D. Thompson, Mr and Mrs Menzies, Mr and Mrs C. Young. Mr and Mrs Hawthorne, Mr and Mrs St. Johnson. Mr and Mrs Fetlieriek. Mr and Mrs Styles. At the conclnsion Mr and Mrs King were accorded an ovation for their efforts in making the picnic a success, and Mr C. Young, on behalf of the Valleyites, expressed pleasure at again combining with Hanna and King’s partv, voicing the nnanimons wish of his fellow-resi-dents that the picnic he held in the Valley every year.
