At the conference luncheon of the Ne# Zealand Boot Manufacturers’ Association last night a telegTam regretting inability to attend was received from the Hbn. W. Downie Stewart, who is at present in Ihinedin. Mr T. O. Bishop, of the Employers' Federation, is at present in Auckland on business, and was unable to attend the conference dinner of the New Zealftpd Boot Manufacturers’ Association. Copping, editor of the "Strat*' ford Post,” has been ordered by liis medical adviser to take a complete rest for several weeks. Mr Victor Hugo, secretary of the New Zealand A.A, Council, journeyed to Masterton for the athletic meeting which was held there. Among the overseas visitors to the Dominion is Mr H. W. Curtis, of Beading, England. Mr Curtis is at present touring the South Island. Mr W. Prime, who was recentlf appointed secretary of the Canterbury Employers’ Association, in the late Mr Frank has entered upon his duties, __ Mr TF. M. Speyer, manager of the New Zealand Insurance Company for the United States, has arrived at Auckland by the Makura. He will probably spend several weeks in New Zealand, and will also visit Australia. Davies, president of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, has returned from Masterton, where he attended the athletic sports. Mr A. D. McLeod. He will probably have some information regarding the formation of the new Broadcasting Company, which is to conduct operations in the four centres. The Rev. Dr J. Alfred Sharp, ex-Pre-sident of the British Wesleyan Conference, with Mrs Sharp, is to arrive in Christchurch next Tuesday. In a letter to Mr W. Dobbs, Dr Sharp stated that he had received hews by cablegram that his only son had died. On receipt of the news. Dr and Mrs Sharp thougnt they must return to England at once, but Dr Sharp decided that he wou*d carry out his duties.
