80ME KEEN CONTESTS ENARE WINS HIGH-WEIGHT. Palamon wound up favourite after very even betting on the Mungaroa Handicap, in which Enare, Eonmark, Carawock. and Vagabond all were well supported. From a good start, Palamon, Vagabond and Carawock wore the first to show out. Palamon led out of the straight, and at the mile was two lengthsclear of Enare, with Eonmark and Red Cherry next, and Manchester a long way in the rear. Palamon led all the w-ay down the back, but four furlongs from home Enare joined him, and, drawing away, was first into the straight. In the run home Enare was not headed, winning by two lengths, but Vagabond and Carawock fought a great finish for second, Carawock. beating the tap-weight by a head. Malingerer wa3 a poor fourth AN INQUIRY. After the running of tne Mungaroa Handicap an inquiry was held by the judicial committee into the crossing of Vagabond by Enare. After hearing the evidence of the riders of Vagabond and Enare, the committee resolved that the crossing did not affect the race, and that the placings should not he disturbed. It was pointed out Ip E. Shaw, rider of Eqare, that it was the duty of riders to straighten up their horses as soon as possible. PASSIONLESS ALL THE WAY. Kineem, Prince Ferouz, and Ardour were the machine favourites for the January Welter. Passionless, ridden by Gray, was jumped out of the barrier very smartly, but Mosthenes and Bagdad

Passionless and Prince Ferouz were the first into the straight, where a challenge was thrown out by Mosthenes, who, however, did not last long. Kerb oame from a long w-ay -back, but could not get up. Passionless won by a length from Prince Ferouz, with Kerb a fair third, Ardour fourth, and Kao Tane, Martian Miss, and Mosthenes next. GAILLARD WINS WEILL. Killochra was withdrawn from the Nursery. Rachael was a very warm favourite, while the most heavily supported of the others were Lady Bentinck and Gaillard. Lady Bentinck and Gaillard got out well, and fought the race out all the way. FAVOURITE WELL BEATEN. The Bulls gelding, Koauan, was a good favourite for the Trial Plate, and there was a good deal of support for Glimpse and Hall Mark. Ajax jumped out well, bui he was soon displaced from the lead, and Sir Pam took charge, but on the top 1 bend Hall Mark ran to the front, and he was well clear turning for home, but ran off the course. Koauau, Sir Pam, and Entre Nous were prominent a couple of furlongs from, home, but in the run to the judge Sir Pam drew out and won by a length and a half from Entre Nous. Glimpse was a poor third, and Hall Mark, who finished under the judge's box, was fourth. The favourite was fifth. THE BIG HANDICAP. Gold* Light was sent out favourite for the W.R.C. Limelight, Merry Day. Sunart, Cold Steel. Mantua, Pale--trina, and Trespass following in that order. There was no great change going., along tho back, except that Sunart irooroved his position. Diamond Ring was out in front five furlongs from home, and Gold Light, Enthusiasm, and Scion were her nearest attendants. On the bend approaching the straight the order was .Diamond Ring. Gold Light, Enthusiasm, Roseday, Scion, and Highland Gold Light took charge at the bottom of the straight, and lying next at this stage were Enthusiasm and Roseday.
