A further manifestation of the serious efforts of the “wets’’ to amend the Volstead Act appeared when Senator Edge, the New Jersey Republican, introduced two hills which if passed Would raise the j>ermissible alcoholic content of beverages from It per cent, to 3 per cent., and remove the restrictions against the issue of liquor prescriptions by physicians.
