Mr D. C. Mazengarb has returned to Wellington from Christchurch. The Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) is in Wellington, also Mr Justice Salmond. Mr Justice MacGregor, and Mr Justice Hosking The latter, however, owing to indisoosition, is on leave, and will leave for England in January. Private advice has been received of the death in Dunedin yesterday of Mrs D. Pinkerton, widow of the Hon. David Pinkerton, who was one of the representatives of the city of Dunedin in the House of Representatives as a supporter of the late Mr R. J. Seddon from 1898 to 1896, and who afterwards occupied a seat in the Legislative Council till his death in 1906. He was also the president of the first Trades and Labour Council in Otago. The deceased iady, who was eighty-nine years of age, arrived at Port Chalmers in the ship Lady Ejidia in January, 1881, and has .resided in Dunedin ever since. She loaves three married daughters to mourn their loss.

Sir Walter Buchanan, M.L.C., is to be given an address of appreciation of tho many services he has rendered the Wairarapa and Bast Coast Pastoral Society since its incorporation in 1877. Opportunity will be taken of a smoke concert at Carterton to present the address.
