BILLIARD CHAMPIONSHIP

WORLD HONOURS. McCONACHY MAY NOT GO. It vra« the intention of Clark McConachy to leave for England shortly for the purpose of contesting the billiard championship of the world, but the present indications are that 'he will be prevented from taking part in the contest. Some time ago the sum of JBSO was cabled to England on behalf of McConachy, being the amount of entrance fee for the championship contest. A re-, ply has, however, been received that the 1 entrance fee has been raised to -11200. This increase in the amount of fee will probably prevent McConachy from undertaking the journey, as he is not in po fortunate a position as the English champions. Mr F. W. Vosseler, of Billiards' Ltd., when interviewed by a “Times’* representative, expressed the opinion that a deliberate attempt is being made to prevent McConachy from being a contestant for world honours.

Clark McConachy, when he visited Great Britain, did exceedingly well, and since 'his return to New Zealand his play has improved. He i* the holder of ihe fifth biggest break made under the rovised rules of the game.
