TO BENEFIT PRODUCERS MR MASSEY EXPLAINS LAW TO LONDON BIPORTERS. “NOT SOCIALISTIC.” By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Special.to Press Association.) LONDON, November 23. A deputation, representing the New Zealand Dairy Produce Importers’ Association, waited on Mr W. F. Massey this morning for information in regard to the Dairy Control Act, and how it would function in the future. It was explained that the association was not hostile, nor was it formed as a result of the passing of the bill. UNIFIED VOICE. Mr Massey gave a lengthy explanation of the legislation and also of the meat producers’ organisation, emphasising that they were not of a Socialistic character or Intention, but the outcome of a desire on the part of the producers to have a more unified voioe in matters affecting their produce. Experience of the work of the Meat Board showed what could be done for the betterment of the trade. The dairy farmers, by a plebiscite, gave evidence by an overwhelming majority of the desire of that section of rural industry for a similar organisation. FAIR PLAY ASSURED. The deputation assured Mr Massey that they were heartily in sympathy with anything that was going to do New Zealand any good. Their organisation was formed to 00-operate with the producers, and they would do what they could for the trade. Mr Massey said that London firms could rest assured that they would have fair play. In the couree of a discussion regarding the great future before the dairy industry of the Dominion, it was stated that there was no reason why New Zealand and Australia should not eliminate foreign supplies of dairy produce to Britain. It was incidentally stated by the agents that New Zealand cheese was in great favour on the market, and was improving in quality each year.
