COMING CARNIVAL
AN EASTBOURNE VENTURE. NO TENNIS TOURNEY. The Eastbourne Borough Council last evening received a series if requests from the Eastbourne Rugby Football, Club. This asked for permission to make a charge for admission to the recreation ground from December 2Gth to 29th. This was granted, as also were requests for authority to run fences down to low water-mark at either end the recreation ground. After discussion it was resolved to decline reluctantly tho use of the tennis courts for the purpose of running 9 tournament. It was pointed outthat the courts having been recently formed, the council should not lose control of them at this stage. A motion to reserve two courts for the gala committee on the payment of full fees was lost. A further request for permission to hold dancing on the courts also was declined.
