Useful rains in many parts of the State partially relieved the position, which was becoming serious, owing to continued droughty conditions. Wheat crops and feed in the dairying districts have suffered severely, and much heavier falls are required to give full relief. Though the outlook in the westtern wheat areas has improved, the rain is regarded as too late to save the bulk of the crops.
