SWIMMING CENTRE

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING.

The annual general meeting of the Wellington Amateur Swimming Association was held last night. The report stated that the finance o! the centre was not in an altogether satisfactory position owing to the centre sending a large team to the national championships at Timaru. ConsoqTient'y tlm centre finished up the season with a considerably depleted balance. The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing season: —President, Mr T. Ronayne, 1.-5.0.; vice-presidents, Hon. J. G Coates, Mr J. Maxwell, and Dr Herbert; chairman, Mr P. N. Rundle; hon. secretary, Mr V. N. Beasley; assistant secretary, Mr Look; hon. treasurer, Mr J. McNie; auditor, Mr A. Sommerville; educational officer, Mr J. Duffy; local officer, Mr P. Coirn; handicappcr, Mr «T. Calnan; two members of executive, Messrs P. Coira and l'\ Chapman; delegate to N.Z.A.S.A., Mr B. O’Neill.

A notice of motion was received from the Worser Bay Club that imlos 57 and 58, re capitation fee, be deleted- Delegates from the Worser Bay and Marnnui Clubs spoke in favour of the motion and put the view of their clubs before the meeting. After some discussion the motion was defeated by nine votes to seven.

The Wellington Club wrote asking the centre to support an application to the City Council to hold a carnival on Christinas Day.—lt was decided to support the application.
