LARGE NUMBER AT AUCKLAND RESOU'TIOX BY GRAND JURY. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND. October 30. Commenting on tbe opening of tho criir.inil scF'inn. Mr .7usti(*c Stringer said tbe calendar was exceptionally long, containing 33 cases against 31 individuals, but there was nothing special exoept the deplorable proportion of sexual off< roes, which totalled nearly half of tho number of eases. Tins seemed to indicate an extent of degeneracy amongst- th? community, which was somewhat disquieting, though none of the eases seemed to be of a particularly gross character. The grand jury resolved, unanimously: ‘That in* the opinion of tho jury' legislation should be enacted to give a judge power to order a surgical operation where he considers it advisable.”
