George Lane, who has rapidly made himself papular in Melbourne. as the Grand DuUo of Ozoehogovinm in “Sally’’ at the Theatre Royal, began his stage experience as a mouse at the age of four. “Under a papier mache shell I crept across the stage,’’ he said, “and every evening the eat fell upon me. It hurt me horribly, and at the time I didn’t know it was because the cat rw intoxicated, and lo.*t lv» bn* nice when he pounced. Needless to say, l was glad when the run of the pantomime came to an end. and the cat could no longer get me in his clutches.“
