FIRES IN AUSTRALIA
HEAVY LOSS AT ANNANDALE

During the lire at Elliott’s furniture factory at Annandale, one of the firemen trod on a broken live wire, and was burned and severely shocked. A comrade who went to his assistance was also laid out. Both were thrown clear of tho wire, and other firemen rescued them. They were not seriously injured.
It has been ascertained that the works were not insured. The total damage is £IOO,OOO, and Elliott’s loss Is £70,000.
OUTBREAKS IN MELBOURNE
By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright MELBOURNE, October 29. Mulready, Bovnn, and Clark’s timber yards at Fit/.roy were destroyed by fire. The damage is estimated at £25,000. Four shops were destroyed by fire in tho centre of Morec. The damage is between £15,000 and £20,000.
