Cable Association. LONDON, October 27. The Australian frozen rabbit trade so tar this season has been most disappointing. I’rices prevailing here leave little, it nny, profit to importers. Sydney “blues” are now quoted at 27s per cate ex ship, and “rods” 2te. Even at these price*, but few aro going into consumption. The chief cause of this unsatisfactory st.ite of affairs is the heavy supply of English rabbits, which not only have come in to the market a month earlier than usual, but are said to bo more plentiful than in any period for a quarter of a century past. Another cause of (he poor demand is I l*e cheapness of meat. Consumers of Cozen r,?Kbits mostly belong to the poorest classes, •'•ho find frozen beef at fid jst pound (and much of it is now Wing i-'tailed at this figure) is more economical lorn rabbits at the same price. Fresh killed English rabbits are selling in the market* at 6d !o 8d per pound, and Ostend tame rabbits, specially reared on the Belgian sand dunes, aro obtainable at R>d.
