BY ODDFELLOWS' LODGE. £14,000 KOR CUBA STREET BUILDING.. J. H-. BEfTHUNE CONDUCT. An indication of the value of pro> in Lo\yer Cuba street is given by a transaction ‘which, has recently been completed by the Loyal Antipodean Lodge, Manchester Unity, 1.0.0. F., which has bought the building. No. 57, adjoining the premises of Messrs f 3. Rowe, and Sons, for £14,000. The property has a frontage of -41 feet to Lower Cuba street bv a depth of 71 feet, and the price works out at nearly £366, per foot. The building is of brick and, coixcrete., three stories in height, and there is a cellar over the full area, below. The building formerly belonged to Mr John Nicol, who had a plumbing establishment there, and he afterwards sold jit to Mr George, Winder. Mr Winder, is now ip Dublin, Ireland, and-the purchase by the Loyal Antipodean Lodge (was. negotiated with. hie attorneys, ! through the agency of Messrs J. H. | Bethune and Co. it is the intention of the Loyal An- [ tipodean Lodge to convert part of the | fyujlding to'lodge uses, and there is a 1 nrge r<som, 66 feet by 40 feet, which could be adapted for the purpose. The lodge authorities have taken possession of the building, but they will hot vacate the Oddfellows-’ Hall, in Lambton quay, which was sold' some time ago for £58,000, until " early in the New Year. The Britannia Lodge of Oddfellows, which wnis primarily associated with the Loyal’ Antipodean Lodge in the Qdflfellows’ Hall, is at the present time erecting new lodge quarters, consisting of a three-story ferroconcrete building, in Clyde quay, at a cost of £12,000.
