A large iiumlwr of police, including detectives from Wellington, are hard at work, but there is nothing to report. They have n baffling task. Oates in progressing as .well as can bo expected in hospital. Owing to the fact that the murderer of a (oiinaman over a year ago was not traced, and that onothov horrihlo murder lms occurred, there is a good deal of uneasiness.
