The League of Nations’ l nion gave a dinner in honour of the delegates to the Imperial Conference. Professor Gilbert Murray presided. ', Lord Robert Cecil, in a message apologising for his absence said that the support of the League by the dominions was one of the few really encouraging signs of the times. He declares that t-ne machinery of the League was sufficiently sound. What was required was more popular support. Lord Salisbury 111 proposing the toast of “The League of Nations. ’ declared that tho Government was A warm supporter of the League. Mr J. H. Thomas, M.P., declared that Labourites were proud of the Empire, and when they came into power there would be no party jealousy of preserving the traditions and greatness of the Empire.
