GERMAN DUMPING
FRANCE ALIVE TO DANGER.
PRECAUTIONS TAKEN,
Publish'd in “Th. Times.” LONDON, October 25.
The Paris correspondent of “The Times” understands that the French Government has informed the British Government that it is taking precautions against the sudden throwing of manufactured and unmanufactured steel from the Ruhr upon the world’s markets. This does not represent a new decision. For months the danger of dumping when normal conditions of trade with the Ruhr returned have been seen. There have been, the French say, no threats hanging over England or other countries of a sudden release of Ruhr productions. It is not a matter of protecting Britain specially. The principle applies all round, France herself is aware of the damage her industries will suffer if measures are not taken to prevent the flooding of the market. Between two and three million tons of Ruhr steel are said to be under French control.
