REMUERA AT AUCKLAND
HOW PETTY OFFICER TIOKELL
DIED
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, October 26. . Two hundred and sixty-eight assisted immigrants arrived by the Remuera today, of whom 106 are for Auckland 20 for Napier, 43 for Wellington, ana 84 for the South Island.
On Wednesday last, during o fancy dress ball, Petty Officer W. Tickell, who was coming out to join H.M.S. Chatham, appeared as a Zulu chief, wearing an oakum girdle and wig. While ho was lighting a cigarette the girdle caught fire, and in a few seconds lie was a mass of flames. Attempts to extinguish tho flames failed until he was so severely burned that death followed.
