HATAITAI BATHING CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING HELD. The report presented at the annual meeting of the H&taitai Bathing Club, held this week, stated that owing tg the heavy expenditure during the past year the baience carried forward amountod only to 14s 9d. The assets of the club, however, had been increased to the extent of «£45, and were now veined at •6125 34c 9d, with current subscription*" due amounting to about £9O. The olufc membership roll now showed 54 life mean*, hers. 71 ordinary members, and 12 junior members. Reference was made to the declino of the club, due in great measure to the bad bathing season last year and the necessity for tho committee to ex* pend its funds in restoring tho dub property to its present efficient state. The principal works accomplished during the year had been the erection of a permanent diving-platform in the bay, the extension of the pier to twice its previous" length, and painting and repairs to tIU shed and staging. The annual sports, added the report, were a complete success, and the thanks of the committee were accorded the donors of the trophies.. During the winter, also, two successful dances had) been held, which enabled the committee to complete its programme of improvements. Huggins, Seville, Buekm aster, Seorle, Mulhane and Bundle and Captain Burgess, committee, Messrs D. Claridge, C. Claridge, Wiiamson, Whitson, E. Sadd, and Quinn; secretary and treasurer, Mr'Co Wes j audi* tors, Messrs Arcus and Patrick. Permission was granted to the children of the Hataitai School to use the bathing-shed, whilst under the supervision of their teacher®. A hearty vote of thanks to the retiring for their service® during the past year was carried by acclamation. PETONE LEAGUE CLUB ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Peton* Amateur Swimming League Club waa held this week, Mr Langridge presiding. The reports presented to the meeting were satisfactory, and the balanoe-sheet showed a credit balance, on the rear’s working.
