BOXING
V OLA I RE-BLACKBURN. As a popular sport boxing has rapidly como to the front, and this is evidenced by the record attendanoe at recent tournaments promoted locally. Tho principal contest at the tournament to be held on Tuesday next is between Volaire and Blackburn, and an excellent exhibition is promised. The Aucklander, who arrives to-day, reports himself in great fettle, and on his showing in his two previous appearances here may be expected to add to his reputation ae a fast, forceful boxer. Particular interest attaches to the amateur preliminaries in that Mcßae, the local heavyweight, will be making his first appearance of the season, pitted against McCormick, of Ashburton, >vho is the present holder of tho championship title. The local man will nave many supporters against his redoubtable opponent.
The demand for seats has been such as to indicate that a full house will result, and those who have not already booked should lost no time in doing so. There is the usual system of early door tickets to all part®.
