REGATTA CLUB
FIRST ANNUAL REPORT. The first anmial report of the Wellington Regatta Club, which was instituted last season to control the annual Wellington regatta, states that it is with the greatest satisfaction that tho committee is able to show a small credit balance on the first regatta controlled by the club. Reference to the statement of receipts and payments shows that tlie net surplus is Ju 2s As 4d. The membership now stands at 114, and it is regrettable that only approximately 50 per cent, are active oarsmen. Jf every active oarsman joined the club there would be no neceeeity to approach outsiders in order to run the annual regatta. The club was fortunate in having fine weather for the annual regatta, which took place on February 24th. Tho entries for the twelve races on the progarmme were very good, there being 64 entries. The entries from clubs outmTTe the Wellington province were satisfactory, but it is hoped to see more visiting crews at the regatta next year. The interprovincial fours race was won by Canterbury Rowing Association, i The c£4fi donated by the club towards the expenses of the various rowing associations entering for the race was allotted ns follows: —Auckland Amateur Row- 1 ing Association. .£lB 15s; Nelson Amateur Rowing Association, ,£<s 19s Gel; Canterbury Amateur Rowing Association, j£7 llsf Marlborough Amateur Rowing Association, o6G 14s fid. Total, JMO. In conclusion, the committee impresses upon l oarsmen the necessity of joining the Regatta Club, and thus electing their own representatives to control their regatta. The annual meeting of the Regatta Club will be held a the Star Boating Club on Monday evening.
