INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE HOST BE GALLED GERMAN DISSOLUTION DISASTROUS TO BRITAIN GENERAL SMUTS CRITICISES FRANCE UNITED STATES’ POLICY UNCHANGED If Europe is to be saved, a conference of all the Powers must be called as soon as possible, declared General Smuts, in a remarkably outspoken speech in London. General Smuts strongly criticised the present French policy, and declared that the dissolution of Germanv would be “a first-class and irreparable disaster to Britain.” The American Ambassador, at the Pilgrims’ Club, said that the United States would not become embroiled in the quarrels of Europe.
